The play recounts the sordid story of the mass murder of over two hundred (200) African American residents of Phillips County Arkansas who were shot and killed on sight because local white plantation owners feared that Black sharecroppers, who had organized a union to advocate for fairness and justice regarding the sale of their cotton and corn crops, had exercised excessive self-determination.
